IBT Successfully Nominates
Troy Public Library for BMI Grant

John R. Paeglow III (left),
president of IBT Global, presents a $1,500 grant check from the Book
Manufacturers’ Institute (BMI)
to Paul Hicok, director of the Troy, NY Public Library. Mr. Paeglow successfully nominated
the library for a BMI grant to help them rebuild their non-fiction book
offerings.
Per Mr. Hicok, “We have discovered several large gaps in our
collections mostly as a result of very tight book and materials budgets
over the last five years. We are particularly concerned with the lack of
current titles in our general health and fitness collections including
shortages in the areas of pregnancy and infant care, caring for the aged,
and readable guides for people suffering from diseases such as cancer,
Alzheimer’s and heart disease.”
Hicok added, “Repair and
maintenance guides for the home is another area of the collection which needs
more up-dated materials. Many of these guides for plumbing, electrical
work and appliance repair are too dated to be of use today and many have turned
up missing in action. Our patrons are often from working families who
depend on their library for books and information they cannot afford to
purchase on their own.”
The BMI is a national trade
organization comprised of book manufacturers and related vendors. Their grant program supports groups
providing book-related literacy, reading and educational initiatives. Mr. Paeglow is a member of the BMI board of
directors. IBT Global is a leading digital
book manufacturer located in Troy.
